The rBods Path Forward

Cat and I invite visitors to read about rBods.com and sign up as a show of support.

At this time 7 states have created legislation that allows companies to choose the L3C model for their business structure (read more about L3Cs at Wikipedia here) . Ideally this designation allows non-profits to allocate Program Related Investment (PRI) funds towards these entities without going thru the hassle of making special requests to the IRS. Unfortunately, to date, the IRS has not publicly stated that they would recognize contributions from non-profits to L3C businesses as automatically qualifying as PRIs. This makes it impractical for non-profit organizations to donate toward L3Cs without making time consuming special requests to the IRS or possibly jeopardizing their non-profit status. Starting a business is all about having enough capital to sustain it during its developmental years. If this money comes from the Venture Capital community then profits become the corporate goal over social good. rBods.com is standing by until the IRS rules on L3Cs. It will happen sooner or later because more and more states are passing legislation to create L3C structures. L3C businesses can already exist in any state in the union because all states recognize legal business entities created in other states. After initial rounds of investment with large foundations, and placement of them as majority voting board members, rBods would be able to survive and prosper without further equity infusions from the non-profits.

We believe strongly that rBods can become a muli-billion dollar socially focused, self-sustaining enterprise by simply branding its name toward an array of products and services that faithful followers purchase. The majority of would be “profits” will be spent on social programs that promote our mission….but we can’t do it without the IRS’s explicit blessings.

Until that time, please sign up as an rBods member and if you or someone you know has any political US government influence please lobby for a clear ruling from the IRS.

Additionally, please spend some time on the site looking at different page views, making comments, or even posting videos or pictures so that rBods ranking improves over time….which, in turn, will influence search engines to send more like-minded people to our site. Patience and perseverance are the hallmarks of all successful endeavors. Let us dream about the day that the Internet is harnessed to provide self-sustaining “Social Good”, beyond the traditional non-profit model, in the form of L3Cs!

In the meantime, exercise regularly and encourage those you influence to do the same!
